photoblog image Night vision

Night vision

Using a red torch. This doesn't bother them at all.

The roaring from the males right next to us was intense.

This is an image that's almost impossible to get.

Great stuff Rob, what a thrill this must have been. I used to live not far from a zoo, not long after I moved in I heard lions roaring at night...It scared me to death! Once I realised what it was, I used to enjoy it.
"Almost" being the operative word...
Wonderful!
Well, Rob, I am delighted that you got it.
Même la nuit, ils veillent.

Even the picture makes me feel slightly uneasy, Rob. You must have been so close

You are braver than I am.
The deep red makes it all elemental...
